OUR journey
Hello! I’m Michael Ridden, the owner of TheEvoPod.com.
I am a Registered Architect with over 30 years of experience, recognized by the Royal Institute of British Architects. My journey began in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland and continued in London, where I honed my skills in sustainable architectural design, igniting a passion for creating eco-friendly shelters.
This passion led me to Central Oregon, where I fulfilled a dream: designing and building my own off-grid home powered entirely by wind and solar energy.
In 2001, I founded The Solar Store, a venture that allowed me to share my expertise in renewable energy solutions with others with the goal of helping people achieve energy independence.
After two decades of success, I sold the business in 2024, but my commitment to sustainability continues. In 2020, while operating the Solar Store, I developed the first EvoPod prototype, merging my architectural background with cutting-edge renewable technologies. In 2025, I launched TheEvoPod.com, offering innovative CNC frame kits that empower others to embrace off grid living in remote areas and clean energy independence. When I’m not immersed in design and innovation, you can find me hiking through the stunning landscapes of Oregon, always seeking inspiration from nature. I believe that a harmonious relationship with our environment is not just a goal but a lifestyle, and I’m excited to share this journey with others.
